Its not a box but a tray and not hard plastic but thin flexible one. Very similar to the ones bulk pens are packaged in and then thrown away. They are selling it instead of throwing away. Would hold your pen may be for a year or two before it disintegrates.
Quite impressed with the pen and it’s quality for the price it comes with.
