The SELMY Kylin Maki-e Fountain Pen is an individually handcrafted writing instrument created using traditional natural raw lacquer and Maki-e craftsmanship. Built on a substantial No.30 ebonite body, the pen features an intricately decorated Kylin motif with carefully applied lacquer work that gives the surface exceptional depth and character.

Each pen requires approximately 4–6 months to complete, as the lacquer is built up and finished through multiple stages, with time required between processes. The pen is further distinguished by its lacquered Bock feed(Medium Nib), extending the handcrafted lacquer treatment to a functional component of the writing system.

Due to the completely handcrafted process, subtle variations in the artwork, lacquer texture, colour, and finish are expected. These differences make each SELMY Kylin pen a unique individual piece rather than a mass-produced writing instrument.
